The protective earthing network acts as the most critical life-safety shield across any structure, instantly draining stray leakage currents from metallic appliance enclosures safely into earth ground and protecting occupants from fatal electric shocks. In older properties lacking dedicated earthing infrastructure, installers frequently implemented hazardous 'bootleg grounding' (sıfırlama—jumping the operational neutral wire across to the socket earth pin). This illegal shortcut produces persistent tingling shocks on washing machines, dishwashers, and stainless steel sinks, while transforming entire appliance metal casings into fully live 230V hazards during upstream open-neutral faults. Furthermore, bootleg jumpers paralyze 30 mA life-safety RCDs. Eradicating this lethal hazard requires methodically removing bootleg jumpers from every outlet, pulling dedicated 2.5mm² solid green-yellow protective earth (PE) conductors, driving solid electrolytic copper rods into ground to achieve earth loop resistance below 2 Ohms, and installing coordinated 30 mA life-safety and 300 mA fire-protection RCDs. As the Asian Side's fastest and most reliable certified electrician network, coordinated from our central Pendik dispatch hub, we provide 24/7 on-demand response with certified technicians across Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ümraniye, Ataşehir, Maltepe, Kartal, Pendik, Tuzla, Çekmeköy, Sancaktepe, Sultanbeyli, Beykoz, and Şile. When seeking an experienced electrician, all grounding installations, rod driving, and bootleg de-bridging carry our official 1 year workmanship guarantee and transparent upfront pricing. For rapid response, our nearest electrician and emergency electrician units arrive promptly.

Jumping a short wire link between the neutral terminal and the earth prong inside a wall socket—known as 'bootleg grounding' (sıfırlama)—is the most pervasive and lethal wiring shortcut in older housing stock. When bootlegged, nominal 10 to 25V voltage drops circulating along active neutral return paths are transferred directly onto the exposed metal chassis of connected washing machines, refrigerators, and boilers. Touching a wet tap while barefoot on damp tiles completes the circuit through the human body, causing continuous painful tingling shocks.
Far more catastrophic is an upstream open-neutral failure at the building distribution board or street transformer. When the neutral breaks, the bootlegged earth pin loses zero reference and energizes directly to full 230V mains phase voltage through internal appliance windings. The entire appliance casing becomes lethally energized, and because bootleg jumpers bypass RCD differential balance, no safety breaker can trip. During our intervention, every single socket faceplate is opened and all bootleg jumpers severed permanently.
Establishing authentic low-impedance earthing requires driving solid electrolytic copper rods (minimum 20mm diameter, 1.5m length) deep into subsoil in building gardens or basement grounds. In dry or rocky soil profiles with high resistivity, rods are encased in Ground Enhancement Material (GEM) and bentonite conductive slurry to maximize earth contact area. A continuous 1x16mm² or 1x25mm² solid copper bonding conductor routes directly from the rod to the main service panel.
A Main Equipotential Bonding (MEB) bar is installed at the main panel, bonding domestic metal water pipes, gas lines, and building structural rebars via 6mm² or 10mm² green-yellow conductors. Using a 3-pole digital earth ground Megger, earth loop resistance is measured and certified to remain strictly below 2 Ohms (ideally under 1 Ohm).
Code-compliant electrical safety requires two-stage selective residual current protection. The building main service entrance board is equipped with a 300 mA selective (Type S time-delayed) fire-protection RCD, safeguarding vertical riser cables against rodent damage and insulation fires. Inside each individual apartment consumer unit, an ultra-sensitive 30 mA Type A life-safety RCD is commissioned. This selective hierarchy ensures an earth fault in one flat disconnects only that apartment, leaving communal stairwells and neighbors energized.
Direct or nearby lightning strikes inject transient surges exceeding thousands of volts into electrical riser networks. Mounting Type 1+2 (Class B+C) combined spark-gap and varistor surge arrestors at the building main service entrance diverts lightning impulse currents to earth within 25 nanoseconds. Secondary Type 2 SPDs inside apartment boards shield smart televisions, combi boiler logic boards, and elevator controllers from residual overvoltages.
In bathrooms, shower stalls, and wet tile areas, surface moisture drops human body electrical resistance to 1000 Ohms. To completely eliminate touch-voltage hazards in wet zones, all metallic domestic water pipes, metal towel radiators, aluminum shower enclosure frames, and tub casings are cross-bonded via 4mm² or 6mm² green-yellow conductors to a local Supplementary Equipotential Bonding (SEB) enclosure. This ensures zero potential difference can ever manifest across plumbing fixtures, eradicating shock risks during bathing.
As the certified ElektrikçiGO electrician network, we deliver certified ground resistance testing, bootleg removal, solid copper rod driving, and surge protector installations across all districts of Istanbul's Asian Side. Every earthing line, panel overhaul, and de-bridging intervention carries our official 1 Year Workmanship Guarantee with transparent upfront pricing and zero surprise charges.
Upon job completion, measured resistance values from digital 3-pole earth Meggers and socket loop impedance data are compiled into an official certified Grounding Compliance Report delivered to property owners. For urgent electrical loss, our emergency electrician dispatch fleet operates 24/7.

Operating neutral voltages bleed onto appliance casings, causing shocks. During an open-neutral fault, full 230V mains phase potential energizes metal frames while disabling RCD tripping.
Earthing loop resistance must remain strictly below 2 Ohms for domestic safety. Driving additional solid copper rods and applying conductive GEM slurry lowers resistance effectively.
Yes. Solid copper rods are driven into soil, heavy 16mm² earth conductors pulled to main boards, and dedicated 2.5mm² green-yellow lines routed to every apartment socket.
A 30 mA RCD protects human life against lethal electric shocks inside apartment panels. A 300 mA selective RCD is fitted at main service boards to stop electrical cable fires.
Bootleg grounding or severed earth connections allow stray neutral voltages to energize appliance metalwork. De-bridging sockets and restoring true grounding cures this.
Yes. Type 2 SPDs safely divert lightning transients and utility switching surges to ground, permanently protecting boilers, smart TVs, and microcontroller boards.
Driving copper rods, bonding main panels, and de-bridging all apartment sockets takes approximately 3 to 5 hours in a standard apartment.
Our mobile units coordinated from our Pendik operations hub reach your address within an average of no fixed minutes following call confirmation.
Yes. All earthing wire pulls, ground rod assemblies, and distribution board retrofits performed by ElektrikçiGO certified technicians carry our official 1 Year Workmanship Guarantee.
You can request certified service 24/7 by filling out our fast online form or calling our direct phone and WhatsApp dispatch lines.
Absolutely not. Natural gas pipes must never serve as earthing conductors due to catastrophic explosion hazards; gas pipes are bonded solely for static electricity dissipation to the main bar.
It equalizes voltage potentials between metallic plumbing fixtures and structural frames, permanently eliminating touch-voltage shocks on wet tile surfaces during bathing.
Technicians deploy 3-pole digital earth Meggers to verify ground rod dissipation, followed by calibrated socket loop analyzers testing live-to-earth impedance across all room outlets.
Main grounding down-conductors utilize 1x16mm² or 1x25mm² solid copper; domestic socket radials deploy 2.5mm² green-yellow; and bathroom equipotential links use 4mm² or 6mm² copper.
Combi boiler ignition electrodes and flame-sensing ionization rods rely on chassis grounding as a zero reference; unearthed boilers suffer ignition lockouts and PCB burnouts.
In exterior gardens, unpaved parking borders, or damp subterranean basement soil beds; rods must penetrate virgin subsoil directly rather than concrete slabs.
Corrosion spikes terminal contact resistance, rendering earthing ineffective; all lugs are sealed with heavy-duty bimetallic clamps and antioxidant dielectric grease.
When a ground fault energizes appliance metalwork, current diverts along low-resistance copper grounding paths rather than human skin, tripping 30 mA RCDs within 30 milliseconds.
A Franklin lightning rod or Early Streamer Emission (ESE) terminal is mounted at the highest roof peak, routing twin 50mm² solid copper down-conductors directly to earth pits.
It allows engineers during annual compliance audits to isolate the earth electrode from the building grid, testing true soil dissipation resistance independently with Meggers.
Type 1 SPDs discharge direct 10/350 µs lightning impulse currents to earth; Type 2 SPDs clamp 8/20 µs switching transients and indirect lightning overvoltages to protect equipment.
Yes, our grounding compliance reports measured with calibrated test hardware and stamped by licensed electrical engineers are officially valid across all municipal and gas utility authorities.
