In the listed timber and half-timber buildings on the Bosphorus slopes of Kuzguncuk, Beylerbeyi and Çengelköy, wiring was frequently run in cloth or lead insulated conductors. As the insulation turns brittle and cracks the conductors touch and arcing starts inside the timber structure. In a timber building that arc develops into fire far faster than in concrete, so a crackling sound from the wall demands immediate attention.
The circuit is measured with a 500 V megohmmeter and, where insulation resistance falls below 1 Megaohm, the cable is not patched. Since plaster cannot be chased in a listed building, Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen cable is pulled through the existing conduit route or in timber-clad trunking that preserves the elevation. An arc fault detection device and a 30 mA Type A residual current device are added to the board.
In the waterfront mansions, villas and garden flats along the Üsküdar shoreline, outdoor boards and garden junction boxes face constant salt humidity. Salt forms an oxide layer on copper busbar faces and breaker terminals; that layer raises contact resistance and causes heating while lowering insulation resistance and producing leakage current. In wet weather the garden lighting device trips continuously.
Busbar and terminal faces are cleaned back with dielectric solvent, a protective conductive compound applied to the copper and every terminal tightened with a torque wrench. The outdoor board is upgraded to a gasketed IP65 body with an anti-condensation heater inside. Garden luminaires are changed to IP65 stainless or polycarbonate bodies and their fixings to A4 grade stainless steel.

In the clinic, laboratory and office floors of Acıbadem and Altunizade, imaging equipment, servers and UPS boards are sensitive loads. Many switch-mode power supplies generate third order harmonics whose current accumulates in the neutral, which can exceed the most loaded phase. Where the neutral is left the same size as the phases the conductor overheats and more than three volts appears between neutral and earth.
Total harmonic distortion is measured with an analyser, the neutral cross-section doubled relative to the phases and a harmonic filter recommended where required. A dedicated earth busbar is run to the sensitive equipment circuits and earth resistance measured with a digital tester and documented. The UPS bypass switch is tested and a Type 1+2 surge arrester fitted in the board.
In the older apartment stock of Bağlarbaşı, Ünalan and Selimiye no protective earth was ever installed, so the neutral pin is bridged to the earth terminal inside the sockets. The moment the upstream neutral loosens, 220 V phase potential energises the washing machine, dishwasher and oven chassis. Anyone touching the steel sink and the appliance at the same time is placed directly across the mains, which is a lethal risk rather than a mild tingle.
Each socket is opened in turn, every jumper removed and the absence of any remaining bridge confirmed by measuring neutral-to-earth voltage. Where the building has a common earth, a 16 mm² protective conductor is pulled from the flat to the main board; otherwise a solid copper earth electrode is driven into the garden or basement floor. A 30 mA Type A device is fitted in the board and its trip time verified with a dedicated tester.

Every terminal inside the board is tightened with a calibrated screwdriver to the torque printed in the manufacturer catalogue, between 2.5 and 3.5 Nm. Hand tightening leaves an invisible slackness and residual contact resistance; current crossing that resistance carbonises the copper surface, resistance climbs further and a thermal runaway chain begins. As the chain advances the terminal passes 200 degrees, melts cable insulation and ignites the Bakelite enclosure.
On completion the whole board is swept with a FLIR thermal imager, not just the replaced component but every breaker, the residual current device and all busbar links. Latent hotspots above seventy degrees are located and re-torqued, which stops the customer facing the same fault again a few days later. The sweep is carried out under load, because heating is invisible in a de-energised board and the fault stays hidden. In older boards containing aluminium conductors the terminals are diarised for a further check after six months, since aluminium cold-creeps and works loose again over time.
In buildings with no protective earth, bridging the neutral pin to the earth terminal inside a socket is known on site as bootleg grounding. The moment the upstream neutral loosens or breaks, full 220 V phase potential energises the washing machine, dishwasher and oven chassis, and anyone touching the steel sink or appliance is placed directly across the mains. Such a setup can look faultless for years, then kill after a single loosened screw.
Our intervention removes every jumper one by one, drives a solid copper earth electrode, adds an earth busbar to the main board and commissions a 30 mA Type A residual current device whose trip time is verified in milliseconds with a dedicated tester. Removal of every jumper is additionally proven by measuring neutral-to-earth voltage at each socket, since one missed outlet keeps the hazard alive. Chassis continuity on metal-bodied appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers is also measured to confirm they are genuinely bonded to the protective conductor.

In a listed timber mansion in Kuzguncuk, a persistent crackling from the living room wall and an intermittent burnt odour were reported. Arriving in twenty-six minutes, our crew isolated the supply and opened the ceiling junction box to find the insulation on two cloth-covered conductors completely brittle and shedding, with the timber around the terminal carbonised. A 500 V megohmmeter read the living room branch at 0.2 Megaohm. As plaster could not be chased in a timber structure, Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen cable was pulled through the existing conduit route, all junctions closed with Wago 221 terminals, the carbonised timber area cleaned back and an arc fault detection device plus a 30 mA Type A residual current device fitted in the board. The final insulation reading was 310 Megaohm.
On this callout the root cause was recorded with photographs and a thermal image, each step of the work written onto the service report and handed over against the customer's signature. Labour carries a 1 year guarantee.
With dispatch coordinated from our Pendik hub and GPS-tracked vans patrolling the main Üsküdar corridors, average arrival is no fixed minutes. When the technician departs, their name, vehicle plate and a live tracking link are sent by SMS or WhatsApp.
Yes. In a listed building neither plaster nor timber panelling is cut. The existing conduit route is tested with a draw wire and the cable renewed along it; if the conduit is crushed, timber-clad surface trunking that preserves the elevation is used. In timber structures Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen cable is preferred and an arc fault detection device added to the board, because arcing turns into fire far faster in timber.
Salt humidity corrodes the contacts inside luminaires and junction boxes, and in rain the leakage threshold is exceeded. The lasting fix is changing the fittings to IP65 stainless or polycarbonate bodies, encapsulating box interiors with dielectric silicone gel and placing the garden circuit behind its own 30 mA device. Fixings are specified in A4 grade stainless and a protective conductive compound applied to the copper ends.
Every technician dispatched holds an official Level 4 or 5 vocational qualification as an electrical installer and presents an identity card at the door. The vehicle plate and technician name are shared by SMS or WhatsApp after the call is confirmed; on site 1000 V insulated hand tools and a lockout/tagout kit are used.
Once the work is complete and the system tested under dynamic load you may pay by cash, instant bank transfer or credit card. Every payment is receipted with an official invoice and a signed technical service report containing the measured values.
Yes. Üsküdar is covered on Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and at night. On the Anatolian side the on-call run starts from Pendik. Arrival depends on traffic and the queue; no minute is promised. A night or holiday difference is stated on the phone before anyone sets off.

A loose screw connection has carbonised the terminal. Take that outlet out of service at once; the point is found with a thermal camera without opening the wall.

Fix and price
Branches are separated one by one at the board and the device reset; if it holds the fault is in the wiring, if not it is the device. The faulty leg is confirmed with a megohmmeter.

Fix and price
If the building is dark, the record belongs to 186. If only the flat is dark, the fault is after the meter: one phase is missing or the neutral has broken. On neutral loss one phase climbs above 250 volts and another falls to 180.
Diagnosis sits in the 750–1,500 TL band. The job line is written from the 2026 table after measurement.
Fix and price
Inrush exceeds the existing circuit. The fix is not a bigger breaker but a dedicated run from the board with a motor characteristic device.

Fix and price
The chandelier is fixed to the existing box and a load-rated hook. If the hook is not anchored in the slab, it is not hung. Live, neutral and earth are confirmed separately; the body is never put on phase.
Diagnosis sits in the 750–1,500 TL band. The job line is written from the 2026 table after measurement.
Fix and price
There is no protective earth and the neutral is bridged to the earth terminal in the socket. This is a lethal risk; stop using the appliance immediately.

Whatever we are called out for, before leaving we measure your board at five points and leave the result in writing. It is the cheapest way to see a developing fault before it stops anything.
All breaker and terminal temperatures under load with a FLIR thermal imager; every point above seventy degrees is recorded.
The 30 mA residual current device trip time measured in milliseconds with a dedicated tester.
Voltage between neutral and earth; more than a few volts indicates a loose neutral or a bootleg ground.
Earth resistance read with a digital earth tester and assessed against the 2 Ohm target.
Breaker ratings against conductor size; anything above a C16 on a 1.5 mm² run leaves the cable unprotected.
Fully stocked mobile vans: every vehicle carries Schneider and Siemens breakers, 30 mA Type A devices, surge arresters, solid copper cable drums and junction box sets, so most jobs finish on the same visit.
Service covers the neighborhoods of Istanbul's 39 districts. Not the whole of Turkey. A survey is not a binding quote.
