The detached villas and low-rise complexes of Taşdelen, Nişantepe and Ekşioğlu stand on open, elevated ground and are therefore far more exposed to lightning than apartment stock. A nearby discharge imposes a surge of thousands of volts on the supply, and the modem, television, boiler board, smart home modules and camera recorder fail simultaneously. Because no breaker trips, customers rarely understand the cause.
Protection is cascaded: a Type 1 arrester at the building intake, a Type 2 in the flat or villa board and a Type 3 on sensitive equipment circuits. An arrester only works with low earth resistance, so a solid copper earth electrode is driven and the resistance measured with a digital earth tester and documented. Where a roof lightning capture system exists, the continuity of the down conductor is checked as well.
In the forest-edge buildings of Alemdağ, Ömerli and Soğukpınar, basements and garden floors take in water during heavy rain. When water fills a concealed conduit and ceiling junction box the wall surface becomes conductive, and touching damp masonry or a metal socket box carries a fatal shock risk. In that situation the board must not be approached and power is isolated at the building intake.
Branches are measured one by one with a digital megohmmeter, dielectric drying applied and no power restored until insulation resistance reads at least 1 Megaohm. In wet rooms socket and junction ingress protection is raised to IP54 and outdoors to IP65, with box interiors encapsulated in dielectric silicone gel. Where the water source is structural, the building management is notified in writing.

In the newer housing stock of Hamidiye, Mimar Sinan and Merkez, winter load rises sharply with the boiler, heat pump outdoor unit, electric towel rail and underfloor heating. When those loads cluster onto one phase the neutral terminal in the flat board overheats and the main breaker trips thermally. A boiler stopping at midnight is a serious risk in this district's winter conditions.
All three phase currents and the neutral are read separately with a True-RMS clamp meter and the loads redistributed across the busbar. The boiler is always moved to a dedicated circuit with its own breaker, because a faulty socket sharing that leg will stop it at midnight. The heat pump outdoor unit gets a 3x4 mm² run on a C25 motor characteristic breaker and the underfloor heating its own 30 mA device.
Arrival at the hillside and forest-side neighbourhoods of Çekmeköy takes thirty to forty minutes from the Pendik hub, and that window is given honestly to the customer. When the technician departs, their name, vehicle plate and a live tracking link are sent by SMS or WhatsApp. Because of the distance the van carries comprehensive stock in one trip, so the job is finished the same night without a second round trip.
If the residual current device will not hold, branches are separated one by one at the board and measured with a megohmmeter until the faulty leg is confirmed. Once isolated, the boiler, refrigerator and lighting are restored within the first ten minutes. If the concealed run is permanently broken, a temporary safe line is installed overnight in fire-retardant trunking and the noisy permanent work booked for the next working day.

Our service vans stock only TSE and VDE certified Schneider Acti9, Siemens 5SY, ABB and Legrand miniature breakers. Copper-clad aluminium conductors carry roughly sixty percent higher resistance than solid copper and glow red inside the conduit under oven, water heater or air-conditioning loads, so they are never installed. Cross-sections are calculated from appliance nameplate power, run length and permitted voltage drop. Oven and hob circuits start at 3x4 mm², air-conditioning and water heater circuits at 3x2.5 mm², stepping up one size as the run lengthens.
Every junction is closed with fire-retardant Wago 221 lever terminals; taped or twisted splices are refused because they loosen over time and generate contact resistance heating. On completion the circuit is measured under dynamic load, the residual current device trip time is verified with a dedicated tester, and a signed service report plus the official 1 year workmanship guarantee is handed over.
Taping the handle of a repeatedly tripping breaker or winding heavy copper wire onto a ceramic fuse completely disables the circuit's thermal and magnetic protection. Overcurrent is no longer interrupted, the conductor glows inside its conduit and an arcing fire starts behind the plaster. A tripping device always signals a genuine overload or insulation fault; the lever never falls on its own.
The correct remedy is finding the fault, not upsizing the device: line current is measured with a True-RMS clamp meter, insulation resistance with a megohmmeter, the overloaded branch is split onto a dedicated circuit and the protective device is rated to match the conductor cross-section. If cross-section and breaker rating do not match, the protection guards the appliance rather than the cable; fitting anything above a C16 on a 1.5 mm² run or above a C20 on 2.5 mm² leaves the cable unprotected. For that reason the existing conductor size is physically measured on every visit and the breaker rating set from that measurement.

At a villa in Taşdelen, after a severe thunderstorm the modem, television, boiler board and camera recorder all stopped working at once, yet no breaker had tripped. Arriving in thirty-seven minutes, our crew established that a nearby lightning discharge had imposed a surge on the supply, and found no surge arrester whatsoever in the board. A digital earth tester measured earth resistance at 14 Ohm, far too high for an arrester to function. An additional solid copper earth electrode was driven in the garden bringing resistance down to 1.9 Ohm, and a Type 1 arrester was fitted at the building intake, a Type 2 in the villa board and a Type 3 on the camera and modem circuit. The failed boiler board and recorder were replaced and the measured values delivered in a written report.
The brand and model of switchgear fitted, all measured values and the labour charge were written onto a signed service report and handed to the customer. Parts and labour are covered by the official 1 year guarantee.
With dispatch coordinated from our Pendik hub and GPS-tracked vans patrolling the main Çekmeköy corridors, average arrival is no fixed minutes. When the technician departs, their name, vehicle plate and a live tracking link are sent by SMS or WhatsApp.
Yes, but only if the earthing is sound. An arrester works by diverting surge energy into the ground; if earth resistance is high the energy cannot flow and the device offers no protection. So resistance is first measured with a digital earth tester and an additional solid copper rod driven if needed. A Type 1 arrester is then fitted at the building intake, a Type 2 in the villa board and a Type 3 on sensitive circuits such as the modem and cameras.
No, it must definitely not be switched on. When water fills the concealed conduit and junction boxes the wall surface becomes conductive and touching damp masonry carries a fatal shock risk. Power must stay isolated at the building intake. When the crew arrives, branches are measured one by one with a digital megohmmeter, dielectric drying applied and no power restored until insulation resistance reads at least 1 Megaohm. The soaked junction boxes are then renewed and their ingress rating upgraded.
During standard daytime hours digital fault diagnosis and measurement labour averages 500 to 800 TL. For on-call jobs between 20:00 and 08:00 an approximate forty percent night surcharge covers standby crew and vehicle costs; that surcharge is confirmed clearly on the phone before the van departs and is never altered afterwards.
Yes. On arrival the fault is proven by measurement, then the brand and model price of each replacement part plus the net labour total are presented separately in writing. Not a single screw is turned without approval and no surprise line items appear at the end.
Yes. Çekmeköy is covered on Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and at night. On the Anatolian side the on-call run starts from Pendik. Arrival depends on traffic and the queue; no minute is promised. A night or holiday difference is stated on the phone before anyone sets off.

A loose screw connection has carbonised the terminal. Take that outlet out of service at once; the point is found with a thermal camera without opening the wall.

Branches are separated one by one at the board and the device reset; if it holds the fault is in the wiring, if not it is the device. The faulty leg is confirmed with a megohmmeter.

Fix and price
If the building is dark, the record belongs to 186. If only the flat is dark, the fault is after the meter: one phase is missing or the neutral has broken. On neutral loss one phase climbs above 250 volts and another falls to 180.

Fix and price
Inrush exceeds the existing circuit. The fix is not a bigger breaker but a dedicated run from the board with a motor characteristic device.

The chandelier is fixed to the existing box and a load-rated hook. If the hook is not anchored in the slab, it is not hung. Live, neutral and earth are confirmed separately; the body is never put on phase.
Diagnosis sits in the 750–1,500 TL band. The job line is written from the 2026 table after measurement.
Fix and price
There is no protective earth and the neutral is bridged to the earth terminal in the socket. This is a lethal risk; stop using the appliance immediately.

Whatever we are called out for, before leaving we measure your board at five points and leave the result in writing. It is the cheapest way to see a developing fault before it stops anything.
All breaker and terminal temperatures under load with a FLIR thermal imager; every point above seventy degrees is recorded.
The 30 mA residual current device trip time measured in milliseconds with a dedicated tester.
Voltage between neutral and earth; more than a few volts indicates a loose neutral or a bootleg ground.
Earth resistance read with a digital earth tester and assessed against the 2 Ohm target.
Breaker ratings against conductor size; anything above a C16 on a 1.5 mm² run leaves the cable unprotected.
Fully stocked mobile vans: every vehicle carries Schneider and Siemens breakers, 30 mA Type A devices, surge arresters, solid copper cable drums and junction box sets, so most jobs finish on the same visit.
Service covers the neighborhoods of Istanbul's 39 districts. Not the whole of Turkey. A survey is not a binding quote.
