Yukarı Dudullu, Ümraniye

On a glass edger the wheel gets water plus a cerium-oxide suspension. The salts and fine oxide in that suspension conduct better than pure water. As the head turns, slurry splashes the gland mouth. If the gland seal has hardened in sun and alkali, slurry enters the motor terminal box in a shift, not in a week. If the terminal-box lid is thin aluminium and unsealed, dried slurry leaves a white ring. A winding is not judged before that ring is seen. A wet winding drops insulation from megaohms to kiloohms. That drop is not the same as a glazed wheel. A glazed wheel raises motor current while insulation stays put. The two repairs are not the same.

A Schneider Altivar or a Siemens G120 writes SCF, SCF5 or earth fault when frame leakage crosses its threshold. The code is not a part name. The drive output comes off first. The motor cable is read at 500 V DC, phase to phase and phase to earth, from both ends. If the cable itself is low, the cable changes and the motor body stays. If the motor is low, a new body is not named before the body is dried in the shop; a low value measured before the slurry dries is not a verdict on a dry winding. The screen is bonded at one end only, on the drive side, to the plate with an EMC gland. A screen bonded at both ends makes an earth loop and the drive writes the fault again. Core colours do not scramble the U V W order on the motor terminals. Phase order changes the wheel's direction; direction is checked against the arrow on the wheel, not reversed from memory.

On a double-glazing line the pane passes a wash tunnel. The brush motors sit low and are water-sealed, but when the seal tires, mains water leaks to the frame. That leak is a different path from edging slurry. If both sit behind one switch, a wet brush drops the whole line and the electrician pulls the edging drive for nothing. Yukarı Dudullu The split is made in the panel. The brush group stays on its own contactor, its own thermal, its own residual-current device. The edging drive stays on its own breaker. If the contactor body is a Schneider LC1D or a Siemens 3RT, coil voltage is read off the label; putting 230 V on a 24 V coil is not this repair, it is a burnt coil. The thermal is chosen from the current on the motor label, not upsized because a brush turns hard.

If the feed from the line to the panel is fixed, it is NYY. The section is chosen by reading the current on the line label and the distance between panel and machine; the next shop's cable is not copied. Cable that runs in the machine's own energy chain is the flexible screened cable the maker supplied. NYM does not go in a chain. NYM is for fixed wiring and cracks in a chain within a season. NYA is a single core for conduit and does not go down onto a slurry floor. If the outer sheath of a screened motor cable has swollen with slurry, the cable is not shortened, it is replaced; a shortened cable drinks slurry again at the next gland. Gland size follows the cable's outside diameter. A hose clamp crushed with pliers is not a gland.

Someone in the shop has fitted a 300 mA device because 30 mA was tripping three times a day. That is a wrong repair seen often on a glass line. 30 mA is for sockets and lighting that a person touches. Selectivity on a fixed machine circuit is calculated separately; the calculation is not a licence to leave a wet motor in circuit. The wet winding is dried or replaced, the gland is renewed, and only then is the device rating written. An upsized device keeps the line up while slurry is still in the frame, and the next leak heats the body. A hand tool is not run with the panel door open. Measurement starts with the power off. A probe is not leaned on a live busbar.

The order is one. The line stops. The main breaker comes down, and the fact that it is down is measured. The drive code is photographed, not cleared. Resetting parameters does not treat the code; on the next start the same earth fault returns and the wheel makes a half turn on the glass. The motor cable leaves the drive. Insulation, then the cable, then the motor. The gland and the white slurry ring are written down. The extraction and wash-water valve are not opened before the electrical work is finished; a drying verdict with the valve open is a lie. The price is said on site from the cable, gland, drive or motor that actually changes, not from the name of the code. A glass machine is not priced at a figure on the phone.

The white ring in the terminal box is taken off with a damp cloth. Compressed air is not used. Compressed air drives slurry deeper into the winding and throws a conductive mist into the shop. Lid open, motor dead, it waits overnight at room temperature. The next day 500 V DC is read again. If the value has returned to the megaohm range the body stays and the gland and cable are renewed. If the value is still in kiloohms the winding has drunk the slurry; the body changes, and the old body is not varnished and put back on the line. During drying the wheel belt comes off so the bearing does not spin dry. Bearing noise is written separately. Motor current in the drive parameters is entered again from the new body's label; the old current acts like a thermal on the new body and loads the wheel.

A Yukarı Dudullu shop often runs a noon shift and an evening shift. The earth fault usually arrives on the second shift, after the slurry has warmed. If the line drops while a pane is in the middle of the tunnel, the pane is not left there; the conveyor is cleared by hand, dead, with the maker's unload lever. The electrician does not pull the glass by hand, because a Low-E face is scratched by a fingerprint and a metal watch. The panel door is not opened before unloading is finished. On a night call the first job is a photograph: drive code, gland mouth, white ring. A part name is not said before the photograph. The next shop around İMES is a different machine; its drive parameters are not copied onto this line.
