Sanayi Caddesi

When the thermal trips, the first reflex is to upsize the ampere by one step. That is the wrong habit on Şeyhli Sanayi Caddesi. The thermal sees a long current. The RCD sees a body leak. A wet motor cable, a punctured heater, a lathe with a leaking frame and a wrong NYY sheath trip the RCD. A 30 mA dwelling relay is not mixed with a 300 mA fire line. The measurement is insulation, loop impedance, leakage on the clamp and the motor label. Schneider NSX, Siemens 3VA and ABB Tmax torque the same job differently. If the label is gone a body is not fitted as 'the same'.

Compensation gear is often a separate sheet-steel box: contactor, reactor, step capacitor, control relay. Adding a step because cos φ is low is not leaving a swollen can in place. The contactor body is not swapped before the coil is measured on A1-A2. Reactor heat, step current and the relay program are read on site. A Schneider Varplus or an equivalent step is not fitted as 'the same' when the label is gone. A compensation fire comes from a loose ferrule and a wrong step current; upsizing the fuse is not the fix. On the night shift the motor stops, the step sits idle, the capacitor swells.

A piston compressor often starts DOL: one contactor, a thermal, a phase-protection relay. Without phase protection (sequence plus under/over voltage) the stator burns on a single phase and the tradesman says 'the motor is finished'. A welder draws inrush on the same busbar; compensation and the drive throw OV. In a three-phase plant a lost neutral makes a 230 V load see 400 V; the LED driver, the 24 V PSU and the compensation relay die. A phase-protection relay (PMD, CM-PFE, RM17) is set separately for neutral and sequence. Without busbar screw torque a hot lug looks like a lost phase. 'The power comes and goes' is often a loose ferrule or an inside-panel splice, not the utility side.

On a plant that drops toward the OSB gate a travelling-bridge hoist or a chain hoist is common. The pendant is 24 V; if the mushroom is bridged the load hangs in the air and the tradesman says 'the contactor does not pull'. If the pendant cable is stripped on an oily rail the 24 V common (0 V) leaks to chassis and I/O lights at random. If a hoist contactor (up-down-left-right) pulls two directions at once without a mechanical interlock the busbar carbons. This is not a site-stair switch. If a limit switch (upper-lower) is jumped the motor thermal trips; upsizing the ampere does not save the hook. If a screened 24 V and a motor cable heat in the same trough the EMC returns looking like a drive OCF.

In Sanayi Caddesi buildings without a protective earth it is common to find the neutral pin bridged to the earth terminal inside the socket. With that arrangement, the moment the upstream neutral loosens, 220 V phase potential energises the washing machine, dishwasher and oven chassis, and anyone touching the steel sink and the appliance together is placed across the mains. Diagnosis is simple: the voltage between neutral and earth is measured at the outlet, and anything above a few volts points to a jumper.

Where the building has a common earth, a 16 mm² protective conductor is pulled from the flat board to the main board; otherwise a solid copper electrode is driven into the garden or basement floor. Resistance is measured with a digital earth tester and, if the 2 Ohm target is missed, an extra rod is driven or bentonite backfill applied. Each socket is then opened and every jumper removed, and chassis continuity on metal-bodied appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers is measured to confirm they are genuinely bonded to the protective conductor.

If a concealed run in Sanayi Caddesi breaks or starts leaking, there is no need to chase the wall end to end. The fault is first narrowed branch by branch at the board, then the route is followed from the surface with an inductive cable tracer and a FLIR thermal imager. A terminal heating under load shows as a clear hot spot on the thermal image and the area to be opened drops to centimetre scale.

Where the leakage is in an under-screed or underground run, a cable fault locator usually narrows the point to within a metre and only that area is opened. If the existing conduit is sound the cable is renewed along the same route with a draw wire; if the conduit is crushed, fire-retardant surface trunking is used. Where breaking is unavoidable its extent and cost are reported in writing first, and nothing is cut at a Sanayi Caddesi address without approval.
